Let’s craft a new future together!
Maine Fiberarts is transitioning to a new future. As of March 31, 2026, we will leave our wonderful space at 13 Main Street in Topsham, where we have been for 25 years, and will be operating virtually much of the time. We will also be moving forward in a new way that gets Maine Fiberarts out around the State and into an arts-loving community.
In future, we will be…
- continuing to produce an e-newsletter with a focus expanding to include creative living in Maine;
- preserving and expanding our two beautiful websites—mainefiberarts.org and mainefiberfolio.com—where we post stories about creative people and their work (recently: Jeremy Frey basketry at Portland Museum of Art; a bookmaker’s studio in Appleton; textiles at Washburn-Norlands Living History Center);
- continuing to post photo-illustrated tutorials offered by Maine artists (upcoming: gel printing with Catherine Worthington; natural dyeing with goldenrod; using your sewing machine to draw);
- setting up a working fiber arts studio for short term residencies that travels to different parts of the State in order to network for Maine artists and farmers;
- looking for a permanent steward to archive our exhibition materials, tour maps, library books and major programs; and
- seeking grant funding to help produce a history of Maine Fiberarts.
Please help us make this match! Our online form has been updated and we welcome online contributions in any amount. If you prefer checks, please make them out to Maine Fiberarts, and send to PO Box 404, Brunswick, ME 04011.
This month, two special supporters who believe in our mission have just made an important offer: All donations made between December 15, 2025-January 31, 2026 will be matched up to $6,000.
Also, let us hear from you. Which of Maine Fiberarts’ activities are important to you? Are our future plans of interest or do you have different suggestions? Please email, call or meet Christine for lunch. We are proud of Maine Fiberarts’ work over the past 25 years and want to continue in new ways. Thank you to those already sending in contributions! Together we can make this happen!
Traveling fiber art studio
A fiber art studio that Maine Fiberarts creates could contain spinning wheels, inspirational books, looms, sewing machines, demonstrators, friends, brag books of Maine fiber art, examples of fiber art and more. It could travel to educational venues for short term residencies and introduce the public to new work. Basically, we take the show on the road and bring fiber art to you!
